p> In this article we will see the points that we must keep in mind whenever we germinate marijuana seeds, whether they are new or if they are already a few years old. We will also see how we can germinate our seeds in a simple way and with a total guarantee of success. We will also talk about the importance of conservation of cannabis seeds and the best methods to avoid losing their full germination power. For this occasion we have put some seeds that are several years old and we can see how many have germinated successfully and the time we have needed for it.

Conservation methods for marijuana seeds

The most used method, regarding the preservation of marijuana seeds, is the use of refrigerators that do not have too high a potency. Wine coolers and other similar ones seem to give an optimal result, since their power is not the highest in the refrigerator market and we can regulate it at our convenience. For storage in the fridge it is recommended to use a watertight container like tuperware and bags with labels, to be able to differentiate those packages that we have already started and may be separated from their original package. The order at this point will be of greater importance if the number of seed packages we have is high. Different methods to germinate marijuana seeds

Marijuana seeds, to start germinating, will need the humidity and temperature factors to be in the appropriate ranges. Between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius is the ideal temperature to germinate marijuana seeds. Humidity should never drop below 70%, since we run the risk of slowing down the process and even stopping it. During the first days of the germination process, the use of light will not be necessary. If we respect these two factors of temperature and humidity, we should be successful in the process of germinating marijuana seeds. In my personal opinion, the simplest and most widely used method by growers is using two plates to create a greenhouse effect and using moistened paper napkins inside , to keep the humidity range in perfect condition. I recommend this procedure for the germination of fresh seeds , which are the ones we purchase in our grow shop trustworthy and that no more than a year has passed since its purchase. Another method used by some growers is to use jiffys to facilitate the task once they have germinated the seeds. But with this method we run risks that could go unnoticed and not guarantee the success of the procedure. The most common mistakes that we can make using this procedure can be to sink the seed too much without realizing it when we add water to one of the irrigated areas or leave the jiffys too waterlogged during the first days, which could lead to seed rot. Another important factor to guarantee the germination of marijuana seeds, in this case of very old seeds (more than 5 years old), would be the use of a few drops of hydrogen peroxide < / strong> in the water that we are going to use to germinate those seeds. With this we will avoid the formation of pathogenic fungi that could appear if the seeds take a long time to open .

Germination test performed for this article

For this article we germinated, last Wednesday, 22 seeds that had been collected in the 2012 harvest. These seeds were always kept in an airtight container and kept in a refrigerator no frost during these 3 years. Of those 22 seeds, only 2 have remained unopened after 3 days. As you can see in the photographs, some of them have stayed too close together and the roots seem to be glued to each other. We can solve this by proceeding to separate them very carefully , since if we do it very abruptly, they could break and they would be two lost seeds. Once we have the germinated cannabis seeds, we can transfer them both to a small pot directly and to a jiffy, always watching when we water the first days because we can be uncovering the first roots of the plant. One more week I appreciate your reading and I wish all the readers a good week.
